FALCON RIDGE

JULY 18, 2026 - 50k, 25k, 12k
Picture
2026 REGISTRATION OPENS DECEMBR 1, 2026 @ 7am PST.

Overview

Date: August 15, 2026
Distance: 30k, 13k, kids race
High Alpine running in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, just outside of Kelowna, British Columbia.

Falcon Ridge is the newest race in our series and is a trail runners dream tour as traverses across the most dramatic and beautiful high alpine terrain this area has to offer.
Falcon Ridge 13k starts off in the Village at Big White and climbs up to Rhonda Lake, at the base of the cliff chair. Runners then head up a steep climb to the col in-between East Peak and Big White Proper - a new trail that was build for our event. It's spectacular! The course continues up the alpine to the summit of Big White (2300m) and then follows amazing single track to the base of Falcon Ridge trail. From here, the final few km's shouldn't be under-estimated as runners drop to the bottom of the Ridge Rocket Chair and climb back up to the finish in the Village square.
Falcon Ridge 30k is a loop course that starts off following the 12k course for approx. 10k
before traversing over to the bottom of Gem Lake chair. From here, runners will head up a new trail built for our event, along Moonlight run & Kalina's rainbow to the summit of Gem Lake, almost 1000m ascent.

Runners will do a loop on the upper alpine meadow trails before descending down Bumble Bee, a flowy MTB trail, and eventually to the base of the Ridge Rocket where you'll climb back up to the finish line in Big White Village.

Kids Race:
The distance is about 1km and all ages are welcome, however we typically see kids aged 5 to 10 participate. Kids under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult. It's fun event and not timed. Each kid gets a bib and finishers treat. The entry is $5 and 100% of the proceeds go towards the Canadian Mental Health Association, more specifically Georgia's Wish. Registration is online.

Course Maps

Our team would like to acknowledge and respect that Falcon Ridge takes place on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the sngaytskstx (Sinixt) People and we celebrate and honour all the history that exists upon these amazing lands.

Mandatory Gear

Falcon Ridge is a remote high alpine race and all racers must be prepared for varying temperatures. Think in terms of being stuck: If you are forced to spend additional time out in the elements, you will be much better off if you have extra clothing & fuel to help. A sprained ankle could mean a long, slow painful limp into the nearest aid station, possibly in cold rain. Hypothermia can be very dangerous, especially on tired bodies with no reserves left for generating heat.

30k & 13k Runners MUST start with the following items and carry these with them the entire race.
 - Lightweight jacket for variable weather and cold temperatures
 - Emergency Blanket

30k Runners MUST start the race with the following fuel & hydration requirements:
 - Hydration pack, handheld water bottles or flasks equalling a minimum of 1.5 litres
 - Food equating to a minimum 400 calories

13 km Runners must start the race with the following fuel & hydration requirements:
 - Hydration pack, handheld water bottles or flasks equalling a minimum of 1 litres
 - Food equating to a minimum 200 calories

The following is "recommended" gear:
- Cap/toque: Some areas are exposed to the sun and a toque can keep your head warm in cold temperatures.
- Extra warm layer in addition to a jacket (thin long sleeve base layer or additional jacket).
- Cell phone: Various portions of the course have cell coverage.
- Bear Spray
- Gloves
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen and lip balm
- High energy fuel and drink

MANDATORY GEAR CHECK
  • Random gear checks will occur at the start of the race and throughout the race while on-course. Any runner failing to produce a piece of mandatory gear will be disqualified.
  • STARTING AREA WASHROOMS: There will be portable toilets in the start/finish area in the village.

10 Essentials:
We encourage everyone to always carry the 10 Essentials for Backcountry Safety in your pack. Whether you’re out training, adventuring, or participating in one of our marked races, you can never predict what might happen. Learn more about the 10 Essentials in this article
by Emelee Outdoors.

30k & 12k runners must keep their mandatory gear with them during the whole race.

This is for your safety and race organizers reserve the right to adapt or change the mandatory gear list/rules last minute. Please ensure you watch the mandatory race briefing video for any last minute changes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Things like apple pies, jams, handmade ceramic finishers medals, handmade stained glass and coffee roasted by the race director and her husband. We pride ourselves in ensuring that runners have an experience that feels more like coming home.

We have strong environmental and community values, and we always support local charities through donating a portion of our race fees back to the trail groups that build, maintain and advocate for the trails we are so privileged to enjoy.

We offer a diverse lineup of events, with 3 completely unique races hosted in the Okanagan Valley on top of Broken Goat, hosted in the high alpine mountains of the Kootenays. The terrain and landscapes are all varied and special, and not one race course will leave you feeling unsatisfied. They do have a few things in common though: They're all challenging, scenic and combine all the best trail networks each area has to offer.

We want to thank you for taking time to visit the PACE Trail Runs website and we hope to welcome you into the #pacefamily in 2026.
